Dr Genevieve Marais is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with extensive experience working with adults in individual therapy. Having obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Rhodes University, South Africa, she then went on to complete a Conversion Diploma in Psychology for Graduates at London Guildhall University. This was later followed by a Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy via the Metanoia Institute.
Thereafter, she completed a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy via the Metanoia Institute which is affiliated with Middlesex University. Most recently, Dr Marias has completed a Diploma in Energy Psychotherapy. Dr Marais works in private practice. She has experience in working with individuals who present with the following challenges: Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Work-Related Stress, Low Self-Esteem, PTSD, Trauma, Emotional Regulation Difficulties and Relationship Difficulties.
Dr Marais’ modality is Integrative. Her integrative frame follows a developmental-relational approach and holds the belief that our past and present remain in constant dialogue. Thus, it is by moving between these two counterpoints that we can begin to explore our experiences and thereby update our narrative. Dr Marais is particularly interested in the mind-body connection. Subsequently, supporting an individual to build a healthy relationship with themselves is key to developing conscious awareness, self-reflexivity and emotional robustness which are vital for establishing, developing and maintaining healthy relationships with self and other both personally and professionally
