Dr Joana Breda Vidal

Clinical Psychologist

Joana is an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist and qualified Systemic Practitioner with over 15 years of NHS experience delivering evidence‐based psychological therapies to a variety of client groups. She completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of East London.

Joana has worked in inpatient and community adult mental health contexts, brain injury neurorehabilitation, neonatal and Paediatric services, and has specialist expertise in working with older people, neurodegenerative conditions, and adults living with intellectual disabilities and/or Autism.

She has worked with clients experiencing a variety of difficulties, including: stress, anxiety, depression, anger, relationship difficulties, trauma, bipolar affective disorder, bereavement, dementia, chronic pain and physical health problems. Joana works with individuals, couples and families. She is able to offer therapy that is tailored to people’s individual difficulties and personal preferences, drawing from a variety of approaches that include: cognitive behavioural therapy, systemic family therapy, narrative therapy and compassion focused therapy.

Joana strives to create a therapeutic space where clients can feel comfortable exploring sensitive issues. She believes in working collaboratively with clients and building on their strengths and resources to promote positive and long‐lasting, meaningful change.

Joana can offer therapy in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
