Dr John Leung

Counselling Psychologist

Dr John Leung is a Counselling Psychologist who has completed his Doctorate in Glasgow Caledonian University. John has experience working with children and adults for over 10 years. He has worked extensively in the diverse clinical settings in the NHS and private organisations including Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services, adult IAPT, Secondary care, Eating Disorder Services and Voluntary Counselling organisations.

Throughout his clinical experiences, John has worked with multiple conditions including depression, anxiety, stress, phobias, OCD, anger, eating problems and relationship difficulties. He mainly specialises in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and Person-Centred Therapy, but also draws from his knowledge of different models to help achieve the individual’s therapy goal.

John’s approach recognises how different each person’s experience is and addresses this by tailoring sessions to the client’s needs and goals. He uses a collaborative approach and wants to work together with his clients to gain a greater understanding and insight into their problems. John believes that building a trusting therapeutic relationship is essential for creating change, and wants to create a non-judgemental and safe space where the person is able to talk openly about their thoughts and problems.
