Dr Josephine Swede is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the BPS and HCPC. She completed her training at the University of Surrey and has worked in a range of mental health settings, including both primary care and secondary care services in the NHS, as well as in the private and voluntary sectors.
Josephine is an integrative psychologist working from a number of therapeutic approaches who aims to build a strong therapeutic relationship with the clients she works with. The therapeutic approaches she can offer include; Cognitive-Behavioural therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Person-Centred therapies, as well as drawing from Schema therapy and Compassion-focused therapy regularly in her work with clients.
She has experience of working with a wide range of presentations and populations, including children, adolescents, and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds. She regularly works with presentations including; PTSD and Trauma-related difficulties, issues related to Domestic Violence, Anxiety disorders, Depression, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Bipolar Affective Disorder, and Panic Disorder amongst others.
Josephine endeavours to work collaboratively with clients and to provide a secure and non-judgemental space to facilitate understanding and change in a way which best suits clients’ needs.
