Dr Khibza Jawaid is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist who specialises in working with adults and young people within the NHS and private health care services. Dr Jawaid obtained both her BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Dclinpsy) from University College London.
She has fifteen years’ experience working with a range of both common and complex mental health difficulties, including: depression, anxiety and trauma; interpersonal difficulties; social phobia; panic disorder; body dysmorphic disorder; OCD; eating disorders; loss and adjustment difficulties; working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse; working with transitions and traumatic life events and work-related stress and issues.
Dr Jawaid has expertise in assessment, formulation and targeted therapeutic intervention. She draws on a range of evidenced based interventions, which are individually tailored to the needs and preferences of the client. These include: cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness, schema therapy compassion focused therapy and systemic therapy. Dr Jawaid regularly receives positive feedback and therapy evaluation from her clients, who describe her as approachable, warm, reflective and insightful. She focuses on the inherent strengths in all her clients, providing them with the practical and emotional tools to allow them to make positive changes in their lives. She provides a safe and nurturing space to enable a deeper understanding of the challenges in an individual’s life and works collaboratively with her clients to allow for new insights and positive changes.
Dr Jawaid offers both short and long term therapy. In addition to her private work, Dr Jawaid works as a Principal Clinical Psychologist in the NHS and regularly supervises senior psychologists. She also works as an Associate Clinical Tutor on the Doctorate of Clinical Psychology course at the University of Surrey.
