Dr Sonja Delmonte Sen is a Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience working with individuals with mental health difficulties, learning difficulties, and neurological impairments, with particularly specialist skills in working with adults with Autism and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Having obtained her BSc in Psychology from University College Dublin, she went on to complete a PhD on the neural basis of reward processing in Autism Spectrum Conditions at Trinity College Dublin, with her research presented at international conferences. She then completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry (King’s College London), and is currently working in the NHS with individuals with complex physical and mental health problems. She is also involved in staff support, teaching, and training of other healthcare professionals.
Dr Delmonte Sen has experience in working with clients with a range of different needs, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, stress, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, emotional regulation and relationship difficulties, and health and neurodevelopmental conditions.
She has specialist expertise in delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, and Systemic approaches.
Dr Delmonte Sen regards the development of a safe and trusting relationship as the foundation for therapeutic change. Treatment usually involves the development of a shared understanding of your difficulties so that therapy can be tailored to best suit your needs.
