Mariette is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and completed her Clinical Psychology training in South Africa, before relocating to the UK in 1999. She has 20 years of experience of working in the NHS as well as independent practice, and has offered talking treatments and support to a variety of people struggling with emotional difficulties as well as their interpersonal relationships.
She completed a Postgraduate Diploma through Royal Holloway in London and as a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist, she supports people with problems such as social anxiety, panic attacks, health anxiety, obsessions and compulsions, trauma, and depression. However, she has also worked with many people who don’t fit neatly into these categories, and offer a rounded psychological assessment and understanding that takes into account the person rather than a diagnostic label. Mariette is particularly interested in how personal relationships affect the emotional wellbeing of her clients.
She completed a further postgraduate training in Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy through the Anna Freud Centre and she supports her clients to have more meaningful interactions with others. She works with her clients to help them to grow and develop in their lives, to have more enjoyment in life, and to pursue important goals and values. Mariette has been awarded the title of Associate Fellow for her contribution to the field of Psychology.
